The services and resources offered by the library are available to all staff at all SWB GP Practices. If you have any questions, please contact us.
Books
Staff and students can borrow up to 10 books at any one time. We have a joint catalogue between all Birmingham and Black Country Libraries so you can borrow books from any of the 21 libraries. If you can’t get to one of our libraries to pick up any books you want we can post them to your practice.
The catalogue showing all the books available is available here www.base-library.nhs.uk . If you would like us to check for any books, on a reading list for example, we are happy to look through the list to locate the books for you.
eBooks
We have a collection of electronic books that are accessible with an OpenAthens account (details on how to get an OpenAthens account are here.) They are available to see through the library catalogue or through Ebook Central.
Ebook Central is an online portal that has a wide selection of eBooks with the flexibility to read by chapter or the whole book. Books can be read on tablet, phone or PC. For mobile devices download the Bluefire Reader app (available on iOS or Android).
You can borrow or purchase books through Ebook Central that will be funded by the library. Purchases over £50 will need to be authorised by library staff.
The SWB collection of eBooks is available to view from: http://bit.ly/swbhebooks .
