Our collection of Focus games provide all the structure and information for highly effective group work. A list of the games we currently have is below.

Games are held at  Sandwell Library but can be reserved to be collected at City by emailing or telephoning the library.

Teams that care
Teams That Care is an engaging board game designed to help health and social care teams improve their performance. It helps them reflect on what it takes it be a successful team, and think about what changes they can make to improve the teams they work in.

 

Safeguarding game
An educational board game which helps make safeguarding training memorable and effective. The Safeguarding Game provides an introduction to safeguarding children and adults, helping players spot the signs of abuse, and learn what to do if they are concerned about a child or adult at risk.

 

Renal game
Improve knowledge of the kidneys and renal function with this fun and informative board game for student and qualified health professionals.

 

 

Sleep game
Good sleep is essential to our health and wellbeing, particularly for children, as it allows them to grow and develop. This educational game helps professionals working with children to better understand sleep, enabling them to effectively advise and support families.

 

The communication game
A fun, informative board game which helps anyone interacting with the public to understand the different ways people communicate and improve their own communication skills. It uses realistic scenarios and activities to help players understand the barriers faced by people who have communication support needs.

The sepsis game
A fun and informative board game that helps clinical staff improve their knowledge and management of sepsis. Based around the Sepsis Six care bundle and supporting the Survive Sepsis training programme, it stimulates discussion about improving identification and treatment of sepsis.

 

Working stress game
Clinical practice can be very stressful, and healthcare professionals are more likely to feel stressed than people in most other professions. The Working Stress Game helps health professionals discuss work-related stress and think about coping strategies they can apply in daily practice.

 

Dr Jargon paediatric game
This fast-paced card game challenges health professionals to swap medical jargon for everyday language against the clock. Players are challenged to describe medical conditions, treatments and procedures using clear, child friendly language.

 

 

Dr Jargon: Genomics
Genomics is the second in the Dr Jargon series, designed to encourage health professionals to use simple, jargon-free language when discussing genomics with patients and service-users.

 

 

Six thinking hats
Six Thinking Hats is a simple but powerful decision-checking technique which can be used in group situations, as everyone explores the situation from each perspective at the same time. This allows people to get a more rounded view of their situation!

 

The chiji guidebook & cards
An instructional guidebook containing a collection of activities and ideas for using Chiji cards. The cards have many uses, participants can choose cards that represents answers to questions, feelings or feedback on an activity in a training session.

 

Everybody’s different: the appearance game
This game aims to help children understand that differences in appearance are normal and there’s more to who we are than just how we look. The game uses discussion-based questions, as well as activities to explore thoughts and feelings around body image, appearance and differences.

The food, mood & health game
Explore the impact of food on our physical and emotional health with this educational board game for children and young people. The Food, Mood and Health Game helps young people develop a positive attitude towards food and health by encouraging conversations about nutrition, food and health.

 

The emotion game
The Emotion Game is like a board game and comes with 16 emotion cards (“I’m feeling”) and 16 desire cards (“I’d like”). The goal is to help children understand their emotions and express their feelings so they can ultimately adopt positive behaviours in school.
